Get ready for a treat as The Lowe Family with its high-powered entertainment comes once again to the Rio Grande Valley. The Lowes, mother, father and seven grown children, put on one of the most talented shows to be seen in the Rio Grande Valley. They will have two shows at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 7, at the McAllen Civic Center.
When not on the road, the Lowes perform in the Lawrence Welk Theatre in Branson, Missouri. There is a reason for that. Together the family has spent 250,000 hours practicing, had 10,000 music lessons, plays 50 different instruments and has been in the entertainment business for 25 years. With all that talent, their show, a combination of music, song and dance, is unlike any other Branson show found in the Rio Grande Valley.
Mom, (Lee Andra) met Dad, (Robert) when they were both serving as Brigham Young University Ambassadors, which was an international touring group. Robert was majoring in music and played lead trumpet in the BYU jazz band, Synthesis.
Daughter Kendra plays piano, violin, banjo and organ. She majored in music at BYU and played the role of Marta in "The Sound of Music." She won first, second and third divisions in International Dance Competitions and was on a dance team that won first place in United States Youth Latin American/ Rhythm Formation Championships.
Kara plays violin, piano, marimba and drum. She was on the BYU Junior Ballroom Dance Team.
Kami started violin lessons at age three and plays mandolin, drums, marimba, and percussion. She was a member of the competitive ballroom dance team at BYU.
Doug plays piano, organ, and electric upright guitar. As a child he practiced music six to 12 hours a day and soloed with the Utah State Symphony at age 12.
Korinne plays violin, harp and mandolin, and was first violinist in the BYU Philharmonic Orchestra. She made her first appearance with the Utah Symphony at age nine.
Kysha plays violin, guitar and bass.
Kayli, the baby of the family plays violin, piano, plectrum banjo, five-string banjo, Irish pennywhistle and bodhran. She made her debut on stage with her "biolin" at 14 months of age in diapers where she not only entertained the audience with her music but also by bowing backwards after it was over.
The group plays Irish music, bluegrass, Gospel, and performs vocal harmony. They put on a lively show that is sure to entertain.
