Red Johnson who has been entertaining audiences for over 50 years ordered his first guitar from a Sears & Roebuck catalog with money he earned from raising a calf. It never left his side and after leaving the military, he started playing and writing music professionally.

His song written with Jack Anglin and Bud Auge, "There's a Grand Ol' Opry Show playing Somewhere," became an instant hit. Another hit was "Taxi Cab Driver", which was on Dave Dudley's "Six Days on the Road" album. He has been named to the Rock & Country Hall of Fame, the National Traditional Country Music Hall of Fame and FAME Male Vocalist of the Year.
