Country Singer and songwriter Jim Owen has been making appearances in the Rio Grande Valley during the winter season for the past two years. He is known for his offbeat humor and from-the-heart style of singing.

He is a regular performer in Branson, MO, where is playing Sept. 1 – Dec. 4, 2010. He appeared in Las Vegas where he was named "Las Vegas Entertainer of the Year" in 1985 and 1987. He played Hank Williams in two television movies about his life.

A couple of well known songs he wrote include "Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man" sung by Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn and "Too Lonely, Too Long" sung by Mel Tillis.
