Oct. 16 – Nov. 11: The Harlingen Arts & Heritage Museum will hold its Dia de los Muertos exhibit at the museum, located at 2425 Boxwood St. Visitors can view the beautiful Dia de los Muertos altars decorated by different families, and organizations. Free admission. Open 10 a.m.- 4 p.m.

Oct. 17-18: “Leading Ladies” by Ken Ludwig will be performed Thursday and Friday at the South Padre Island Convention Center at 7355 Padre Blvd., 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., Thurs. and Fri. A comedy about two English Shakespearean actors who find themselves way down on their luck. Tickets: $25 and $30 per person. Call (956) 761-3000 for information.

Oct. 18: The 16th annual Taste of Harlingen will take place from 6-9 p.m. at the Harlingen Arts & Heritage Museum, 2425 Boxwood St. Choice Harlingen restaurants will be in the courtyard. Silent auction from 6-8 p.m. Tickets are $75 in advance or $85 at the door and can be purchased at the museum or at the Harlingen Chamber of Commerce, located at 311 Tyler Ave. Call (956) 423-5440 for information.

Oct. 20: Mission Regional Medical Center (MRMC) will host their Ninth Annual Mission Pink 5K Run/Walk at the hospital, 900 S. Bryan Rd. Start time is 8 a.m. for runners and 9 a.m. for walkers. Oct. 20: i-theatre at the Tower will host a special one-day showing of UTRGV Theatre's newest play “Death and the Maiden” at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday at the Tower Theater of Weslaco, 120 S. Kansas Ave. Tickets are $10 at www.iloveit.live.

Oct. 20: Flutist Kate Flum performs at 7 p.m. at the UTRGV Performing Arts Complex in Edinburg. Admission is $10 and $5 for seniors and students, available at patron.utrgv.edu. For special accommodations, call 956-882-7025.

Oct. 20-27: The Brownsville Heritage Museum presents the Murder, Mystery, Mayhem Tour from 8-9:30 p.m, at the museum, located at 1325 E. Washington St. Tickets are $10 for non-members and $5 for members. Call (956) 548-1313 to register. There is a 25-person limit. The group will explore the Old City Cemetery, where inhabitants will come alive and share their stories of love, deceit and horror during this night of haunting histories and surprises.

Oct. 26: The Valley Symphony Orchestra presents “A Harry Potter Halloween,” its second concert of the season at 8 p.m.Friday at the McAllen Performing Arts Center, located at 700 Convention Center Blvd, McAllen. Oct. 28: The Museum of South Texas History Sunday Speaker Series will present Benito Trevino and his talk “Traditional Uses of Native Plants from 2-3 p.m., at the museum, located at 200 N. Closner Blvd., Edinburg. Admission to the museum is $7 for adults (18 and older), $5 for Seniors 62 and older.

Nov. 2: The McAllen Society for the Performing Arts 2018-19 program McAllen Live! presents Stephen Stills & Judy Collins: Live in Concert at the McAllen Performing Arts Center. Nov. 3: The City of Harlingen and Harlingen CVB will hold its annual Harlingen Fall Festival from 5-10 p.m. on Saturday at Lon C. Hill Park, located at 1217 Fair Park Blvd. in Harlingen. There will live music, food and business vendors, animal exhibits, carnival rides, pumpkin patch, and so much more! Nov. 6: The UTRGV Brass and Woodwinds ensemble will present Jonathan Guist on the clarinet at 7 p.m. at the Texas Southmost College Arts Center, located at 90 Taylor Ave. in Brownsville. Nov. 7-11 – The 25th Annual Rio Grande Valley Birding Festival in Harlingen will be a five-day event, offering 120 field trips for birding enthusiasts, keynotes and presentations, a large trade show, free family activities, silent auction and Texas-friendly socials. Nov. 9-10: Mariachi Aztlan will hold two concerts at the UTRGV Performing Arts Complex, located at 1201 W. University Dr., in Edinburg. Nov. 10-11: Harlingen Community Theatre presents “Forever Plaid: The Heavenly Musical Hit on Saturday and Sunday at the Theater, located at 1209 Fair Park Blvd., in Harlingen. When four young singers are killed in a car crash, they posthumously take the stage for one final gig in this goofy, 1950s nostalgia trip. Tickets are $20 for adults. Nov. 11: Remember those who have served their country at the Veterans Day March & Ceremony in San Benito. The March of Veterans begins at 8:50 a.m. when veterans and surviving family members are invited to march down Sam Houston Street with a police escort to the San Benito Veterans War Memorial site at the railroad tracks and Rowson Street. Nov. 14-18: Neil Simon’s classic play “Barefoot in the Park” will be performed at the Albert L. Jeffers Theatre. This is a UTRGV Mainstage production.
