Nov. 28 -Jan. 1 – Brownsville’s Holiday Village, 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., at Dean Porter Park, 501 E. Ringgold, across from Gladys Porter Zoo. Free admission.

Nov. 28 – Port Isabel Museum and Laguna Madre Museum Foundation present “Telling our Stories” at 6:30 p.m.

Nov. 28-Jan. 3 – IMAS, 1900 W. Nolana Ave., McAllen, will present its 37th annual Christmas Tree Forest, “Green Christmas,” featuring recycled items. Museum is open Tues., Wed., Fri., and Sat. 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thurs. 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $7 adult and $5 senior citizens.

Nov. 30 – Port Isabel Ghost Tours will leave from the Port Isabel Light house at 8 p.m. Admission is $10. Call (956) 943-7602 for information.

Nov. 30-Dec. 1 – Royal Dance Studio will present “A Christmas Classic” at the McAllen Civic Center Auditorium, 1300 S. 10th Street, Fri., 7 p.m., Sat. 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Adults, $15, senior tickets available, call (956) 681-3800.

Dec. 2 -19 – Hidalgo presents 22nd annual Festival of Lights, “Fiestas Navidenas” Concert/Trolley/Dinner. No programs on Dec.18due to the annual posada.

Dec. 3 – Harlingen Arts and Heritage Museum, 2425 Boxwood, will hold the opening reception for “Christmas Along the Rio Grande Extravaganza” at 6 p.m. Exhibit will run through Dec. 29. Museum is open Tues-Sat 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday p.m. 4 p.m. Free. Donation accepted. Extended hours on Thursdays in Dec. until 8 p.m. with live entertainment being planned.

Dec. 3 – South Padre Island Lighting of the Christmas tree will be held at the entrance to city hall at 6:01 p.m. Entertainment, refreshments and visits with Santa.

Dec. 3, 5-9 – Thespians at PSJA High School, 805 W. Ridge Road, San Juan, will perform “Once Upon a Wolf” by Steph DeFerie. Dec. 3, 5, 6, 7 and 9 performances are at 7 p.m. On Dec. 8, 3 p.m. Tickets are $5. For tickets call (956) 354-2319.

Dec. 3-28 – Mission Historical Museum, 900 Doherty, will present “Castillian Roses,” the legend of the roses that appeared when the Virgin Mary appeared to Juan Diego, telling him to build a church at a certain location. Museum is open Tuesday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Dec. 5 – “All about Women,” a Christmas shopping event will be held from 5:30-8 p.m. at the McAllen Chamber of Commerce, 1200 Ash Ave. Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, music, door prizes and plenty of shopping.

Dec. 5 – Arroyo Holiday Lighting, 6 p.m., at McKelvey Park, Harlingen. Bring lawn chairs.

Dec. 5 – Port Isabel’s Community Christmas Tree lighting will be held at Beulah Lee Park, 213 N. Yturria Street at 6 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus, musical performances, Christmas caroling, food booths and more. (956) 943-2682 for information.

Dec. 5 – Quinta Mazatlan presents “Is there an Ichthyologist in the House?” with Dr. Robert Edwards of UTPA at 6 p.m. as part of the Nature Speaker series. $3 for adults, $2 for senior citizens.

Dec. 5 – Treasures of the Gulf Museum in Port Isabel will hold an opening reception for Artist Fern Kubalsky: Painting on Feathers from 4 to 7 p.m. Exhibit will remain through December.

Dec. 5-7 – Veterans Memorial High School, 700 E. Mile 2 Road, Mission will present “Sweeny Todd,” a musical thriller at 7 p.m. Advance tickets go on sale at the theater office at 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 2 or at the front VMHS office during school hours. $10.

Dec. 6 – Harlingen Jaycees will hold the RGV Toyland Christmas Parade on Jackson Street downtown from 7 to 9 p.m.

Dec. 6 – McAllen’s First Friday Artwalk, Main Street Art District, 6 to 10 p.m. Free.

Dec. 6-8 – Dias Festivos Marketplace, sponsored by the McAllen Junior Service League will be held at the McAllen Convention Center, Friday, noon to 9 p.m., Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Dec. 6-8 – Gladys Porter Zoo, 500 Ringgold Street, Brownsville will present its annual Zoo Nights and Lights from 6 to 9 p.m.

Dec. 7 – Jackson Street Market Days, downtown Harlingen, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Dec. 7 – McAllen will host its 31st annual Posada and Lighted Parade in downtown McAllen.

Dec. 7 – Mission will host its annual Welcome Home Winter Texan Party at Leo Pena Placita Park, at corner of W. 8th Street and Conway Ave. in downtown Mission, from 1 to 4 p.m. Expect great entertainment, free snacks, door prizes and more. Free admission.

Dec. 7 – Port Isabel will host its annual lighted boat parade at 6 p.m. rain or shine. Call (956) 943-2262 for information.

Dec. 7 – San Benito’s Community Christmas at the Heavin Amphitheater, 705 N. Travis Street. Free.

Dec. 7 – Veterans War Memorial of Texas, next to McAllen Convention Center will have a remembrance of Pearl Harbor at 10 a.m.

Dec. 8 – The Museum of South Texas History, 200 N. Closner in Edinburg, will present La Pastorela & Cowboy Santa at 1 p.m. Admission, adults $7 and senior citizens (62+) $5.

Dec. 9 – Brownsville’s lighted Christmas Parade will begin at Palm Blvd. and go toward International Bridge on E. Elizabeth Street at 7 p.m.

Dec. 10 – La Joya High School Orchestra will present its Christmas Concert with middle schools, 7 p.m., at La Joya Performing Arts Auditorium, Coyote Drive, La Joya, 7 p.m. Admission is $6. Call (956) 580-5160 for ticket information.

Dec. 11 – Museums of Port Isabel, 317 Railroad Ave. presents Christmas poetry at 6 p.m.

Dec. 12 – Arroyo Colorado Audubon Society presents a lecture on Sabal Palm & Rabb House by Seth Patterson, at the Harlingen Public Library, 410 76 Drive. Field trip to Sabal Palm and Rabb House follows on Dec. 14. Cost is $5.

Dec. 12 – Jammin’ on Jackson Street with Vance Greek & Friends at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Held at Railroad Crossing Model Railroad Club & Event Center, 101 W. Jackson, Harlingen.

Dec. 12 – Quinta Mazatlan, 600 Sunset Dr., McAllen, presents “Natural Holiday Treasures,” a craft evening as part of the nature series. Admission for adults $3, senior citizens, $2.
