South Padre Island FAM FEST this weekend

SOUTH PADRE ISLAND – Where film, music, food and family-friendly fun compliment fine original art, the City of South Padre Island presents FAM Fest, Nov. 16-18. This three-day event will feature outstanding artists, art demonstrations, children’s art activities, live music, film and local food and beverages.

Film Festival

FAM Fest will be the location for the Cine Sol Festival, featuring filmmaking workshop and industry panels. Festival attendees can expect to view films and documentaries from around the world with a unique perspective from award-winning filmmakers. Helen Catherine Hardwicke, an American film director, producer and screenwriter will be this year’s special guest director at FAM Fest. Her directional work includes “Thirteen (2003), “Lords of Dogtown” (2005), “The Nativity Story” (2006), “Twilight” (2008), “Red Riding Hood” (2011), “Plush” (2013, “Miss You Already (2015), and “Miss Bala” (2019).

All CineSol films will be shown at the SPI Convention Centre.

Featured Artists

Visitors will be able to participate in an “Art Crawl,” featuring 16 local artists and art galleries around the Island and Port Isabel. The FAM Fest Art Village (Schlitterbahn Waterpark) will showcase the state and national painters, sculptors, jewelry makers and multimedia artist booths with art for sale. Several galleries and restaurants throughout the Island and Port Isabel will be featuring artists throughout the weekend as well.

Friday, Nov. 16: Artist/Vendor Village open 6-9 p.m.

Saturday, Nov. 17:

Art Gallery Crawl, 10 am- 4 pm and

Artist/Vendor Village open 6-11 pm

Band Performance Schedule

Enjoy music from an eclectic array of local and Texas bands including a free concert at Schlitterbahn Beach Waterpark featuring the Josh Abbott Band.

Friday, Nov. 16:

6 pm – Hollow Slaughter Creek
7 pm – Chris Rivera Band
8 pm – Roy Solis Band

Saturday, Nov. 17:

6 pm – Down South
7 pm – Crossfire
8 pm – Southern Ashes
9 pm – Buckin Crazy
10:20 pm – Josh Abbott Band
