Oct. 24: The UTRGV Brass and Woodwinds ensemble will present Benjamin MciLwain on the trombone 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Texas Southmost College Arts Center, located at 90 Taylor Ave. in Brownsville. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $5 for seniors/students and can be purchased at www.tickets.vendini.com.

Oct. 26 – The first Food Bank RGV Golf Classic will have a shotgun start at 8 a.m., at the Club at Cimarron, 1200 S. Shary Road, Mission. Early bird tickets are available online at foodbankrgv.com/golf-classic-tournament until Oct. 19. Three-person team registration fees are $375 prior to Oct. 19 and $450 after that date and at the door. There will be a variety of prizes including a Hole-In-One prize for a 2019 Dodge Ram. Included in the registration is a light taco breakfast in the morning and barbecue dinner in the afternoon during the awards ceremony. Oct. 26: The Valley Symphony Orchestra presents “A Harry Potter Halloween,” its second concert of the season at 8 p.m., Friday at the McAllen Performing Arts Center, located at 799 Convention Center Blvd, McAllen. Oct. 20-27: The Brownsville Heritage Museum presents the Murder, Mystery, Mayhem Tour from 8-9:30 p.m, at the museum, located at 1325 E. Washington St. Tickets are $10 for non-members and $5 for members. Call (956) 548-1313 to register. There is a 25-person limit. The group will explore the Old City Cemetery, where inhabitants will come alive and share their stories of love, deceit and horror during this night of haunting histories and surprises.

Oct. 27: Actor and stand-up comedian George Lopez brings his tour to Bert Ogden Arena, 4900 S. I-69 in Edinburg at 8 p.m. Tickets are available at bertogdenarena.com and at the H-E-B Park box office. Call 956-562-7362 for information.

Oct. 27: The UTRGV Ensemble Series will present Octubafest featuring Dr. Matthew van Emmerik at 3 p.m. at the UTRGV Performing Arts Comples, located at 1201 W. University Dr. in Edinburg. Octubafest is an annual concert that highlights the tuba and euphonium in various musical forms. This year's concert will feature Emmerik, Australia's leading euphonium soloist. Oct. 30-31: The 29th annual Boo at the Zoo will be held at the Gladys Porter Zoo, Tuesday and Wednesday from 6 - 9 p.m.

Nov. 2: The McAllen Society for the Performing Arts 2018-19 program McAllen Live! presents Stephen Stills & Judy Collins: Live in Concert at the McAllen Performing Arts Center. Nov. 3: The City of Harlingen and Harlingen CVB will hold its annual Harlingen Fall Festival from 5 p.m.-10 p.m. on Saturday at 1217 Fair Park Blvd. in Harlingen. There will live music, food and business vendors, animal exhibits, carnival rides, pumpkin patch, and so much more! Nov. 7-11 – The 25th Annual Rio Grande Valley Birding Festival in Harlingen will be a five-day event, offering 120 field trips for birding enthusiasts, keynotes and presentations, a large trade show, free family activities, silent auction and Texas-friendly socials. Nov. 9-10: Mariachi Aztlan will hold two concerts at the UTRGV Performing Arts Complex, located at 1201 W. University Dr., in Edinburg. Nov. 10-11: Harlingen Community Theatre presents “Forever Plaid: The Heavenly Musical Hit on Saturday and Sunday at the Theater, located at 1209 Fair Park Blvd., Harlingen. When four young singers are killed in a car crash, they posthumously take the stage for one final gig in this goofy, 1950s nostalgia trip. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students (under 18). Nov. 11: Remember those who have served their country at the Veterans Day March & Ceremony in San Benito. The March of Veterans begins at 8:50 a.m. when veterans and surviving family members are invited to march down Sam Houston Street with a police escort to the San Benito Veterans War Memorial site at the railroad tracks and Rowson Street.
