Jan. 9 – Jammin’ on Jackson Street with Vance Greek & Friends at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Held at Railroad Crossing Model Railroad Club & Event Center, 101 W. Jackson, Harlingen.

Jan. 9 – The Senior Ambassadors welcome the Texas A&M Singing Cadets in a special concert to be held at Trinity Worship Center, 4801 N. Cage Blvd., Pharr, at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at Auto Zone, 4131 N. 10th Street, McAllen, or from Don at (956) 581-2558 or any Senior Ambassador.

Jan. 9-March – Harlingen Arts and Heritage Museum, 2425 Boxwood, holds opening reception, 6 to 8 p.m. for traveling quilt show from National Quilt Museum in Paduca, Kentucky. Theme is Jacob’s Ladder. Museum is open Tues-Sat 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday p.m. 4 p.m. free. Donation accepted.

Jan. 9 – Quinta Mazatlan presents “A Tour of Italy Cooking” with Chef Mark Deckard as part of the nature series. Adults $3, senior citizens, $2.

Jan. 10-12 – Laguna Madre Art Show and Sale will be held at the SPI Convention Center, 9 a.m.

Jan. 10-11 – La Joya Performing Arts will present Palmview High School Theatre Arts, “The Wizard of Oz, ” 7 p.m., $6. Call (956) 580-5160 for ticket information.

Jan. 11 – The Texas Citrus Fiesta Product Costume Show will be held at the Mission Community Center, 1420 E. Kika de la Garza Loop, Mission, at 2 p.m. Tickets are $5. Purchase at Fiesta office, 220 E. 9th or at the door.

Jan. 11 – Port Isabel will host the 30th annual Longest Causeway Run stating at 10 a.m.

Jan. 11– Port Isabel Friends of the Library will sponsor a Boot Scootin’ dance and Chili Supper at Port Isabel Firemen’s Hall from 4 to 7 p.m. $10 admission. Tickets must be purchased in advance at Port Isabel Library or Island Reading Room.

Jan. 11- Feb. 18 – Mission Historical Museum will host its annual Quilt Show in the annex building, 200 E. Tom Landry in Mission. Museum is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.

Jan. 12 – The 19th annual Mission Health Community Health Fair will be held Jan. 12 from 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Sharyland High School gymnasium, 1106 N. Shary Road in Mission.

Jan. 12 – Rio Grande Valley Concert Band will present a concert at Aladdin Villas west in Mission at 3 p.m.

Jan. 17-18 – RGV Woodcarving Show will be held at Cielo Banquet Hall, 1101 E. FM 495, San Juan, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission $2.

Jan. 18-19 – Santa Maria Bullring in La Gloria will have a two-day season opener honoring the National Association of Bullfight Clubs of the United States of America, holding its convention in McAllen. Jan. 20-26 – Rally on the Rio Carving Seminar will be held at Cielo Banquet Hall in San Juan.

Jan. 21-22 – The McAllen Convention Center hosts the 21st Annual Winter Texan Expo and Health Fair, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Admission free. Featuring Redhead Express, Ball Ranch Family, David Sage Mentalist and Magician, Jack Nelson and Country Line, Mama’s Wranglers and Elaine Clark (formerly Nelson).

Jan. 23 – Museums of Port Isabel, 317 Railroad Ave. presents “Telling Our Stories” at 6:30 p.m.

Jan. 23 – The Texas Citrus Fiesta Royal Coronation will be held at the Mission Neuhaus Center on the campus of Mission High School, 1820 Cleo Dawson Drive, at 7 p.m. Tickets, $5 to $10.
