A Caribbean cruise for members of the Rio Grande Red Hat Society has been planned for March 1, 2020. The cruise will go to Roatan, Honduras, Puerto Costa Mayo and Cozumel, Mexico. Go with Jo is the agency planning the cruise that will leave from Galveston. Linda Howard the agent. Phone number for Go with Jo is 1-800-999-1446. Howard has recommended a final cut-off date of Feb. 25, 2019. However, there are only so many rooms reserved in each category so the earlier people register, the more likely they are to receive the type of rooms they need.

Three types of rooms are available. Interior rooms are priced from $554; ocean view, $664; and balconies, $1526. Howard said the lower prices balconies have already been booked so the cost for a balcony has risen. These rates are per person based on double occupancy of a cabin. There is a $25 registration fee, an insurance fee of $29 for interior and ocean view rooms and $79 for balcony rooms.

The price does not include shore excursions. Each person can select the shore excursions online once the cruise is booked or use the excursion desk on the ship. While prices of all excursions are not known, Howard said the trip from Cozumel to Virginia Beach where the Mayan ruins are located cost $157 on the last cruise she led. There is no requirement to take any excursions.

Each person planning to go needs to send duplicate information to Kathy Olivarez, via text message to 956- 331-9472 (cell) and Linda Howard at Information to be included is the person’s name as it appears on the passport, birthdate, telephone number, and emergency contacts. Specify the type of accommodations desired. If there is a need for handicapped reservations, please specify that as well. If possible, please send in the names of the people who will be sharing the rooms together. Remember, husbands are welcome and several are already planning to go. Once the information has been received at the agency, Go with Jo will start the billing for a down payment of $259 plus the $25 registration, which will be required at the time of booking. Payment must be completed by Dec. 31.

A Facebook page, “RGV Red Hat Ladies Cruise, March 1, 2020” has been set up to keep people informed of what is happening.
