20180104 Country Rusty RiersonRusty Rierson has an alter ego – Rockin' Rusty.

Rierson is a self-described shy entertainer. Rockin' Rusty is all attitude, filled with arrogance and a self-centered rock star.

You never know when Rierson's “hippie cousin from San Francisco” is going to show up, but chances are highly likely that he will appear somewhere in the Rio Grande Valley this season.

Rierson is an up-and-coming entertainer from Augusta, Kan., about 20 miles outside of Wichita, who will be making his first venture to the Rio Grande Valley (along with Rockin' Rusty).

“My alter ego is a whole lot of attitude and a whole lot of rock and roll,” Rierson said. “I was doing a show in Kansas City and thought it would be fun to try this thing once.”

Rierson gathered up his leather pants from when he was a biker and, donned a red wig that was in the form of a mullet (that way I could do some Billy Ray Cyrus) and pulled on some tattoo sleeves and thus was the birth of Rockin' Rusty.

“It all just came together and people started requesting him.” Rierson said. “Most of the times though it's just shy ole' me. But when people come to my shows, they can expect a classic country show with good ole' rock and roll like Neil Diamond, Elvis, Fran Sinatra, Buddy Holly and other singers and songs I bring in from the 60s and 70s.”

Rierson said he also brings some humor to his show – enough to get people truly laughing, he said. H He will also jump into the crowd and encourage them to sing along, to make them part of the experience.

“I want to put on a good, entertaining and fun show for everyone,” he said.

Rierson has just released a new single on national radio in the United States and Europe, entitled “That's How Sure I am.”

“The video features my first cousins and it was shot at a ranch,” he said. “It has a little humor in it. The video is good and had a lot of gospel references in it. I'm excited to see where it goes – we'll get the chart results from Europe by Jan. 7 – and I'm really expecting it to go top 20 in the first week.”
