20180104 FRED AND SHEILA PHOTOTwo performers, two guitars, two voices. The Freddie and Sheila Show returns to the RGV Jan. 3-31 with singing, pickin' and a lot of laughing.

On lead acoustic and electric guitar and vocals, Freddie Pelletier demonstrates his French Canadian heritage by clogging while playing guitar. He emulates the work of Chet Atkins, Jerry Reed and others by playing classic country, bluegrass and 60s rock instrumentals. Freddie’s sense of humor brings a comedic element to his performance.

He started his professional career in 1969 playing bars and clubs across Canada and the United States. In 1972 he released his first album on Quality Records where two singles hit No. 10 on the Canadian country charts. A few years later he released a second album.

He spent time playing for a wide array of acts and tried his luck in Nashville and Toronto before compiling a group of Calgary musicians to form his own band "The Northwest Rebellion."

He spent a few years away from the country music scene, building a business in Calgary, Canada but returned with a renewed passion for the guitar.

Sheila, on vocals and rhythm guitar, sings classic country, folk, 60s rock, gospel and yodels. She has been singing “as long as I can remember” and became interested in pursuing it as a career in 1993. By this time she had been singing in a local country band since her high school years and was enjoying a career as a registered nurse.

Freddie, Sheila and other musicians will be joining Branson bluegrass group, Goldwing Express again on their second annual Carnival Valor music cruise Feb. 5-10, 2018. The cruise sails from the Port of Galveston to Cozumel and Yucatan, Mexico. Many Winter Texans joined the trip last year and can call (417) 294-0466.

Freddie and Sheila are offering guitar lessons at Friendship Hall at Mission Bell/Trade Winds Resorts in Mission every Monday from 1-2:30 p.m., Jan. 8-29. These sessions are free to Mission Bell/Trade Winds residents and $10 per lesson to non-residents. All levels are welcome and bring your own guitar. For more info call 306-960-7016.
