Neil Simon’s classic play “Barefoot in the Park” will be performed at the Albert L. Jeffers Theatre in Nov. 14-18. This UTRGV Mainstage production is directed by Trey Mikolasky. Showtimes on all dates are 7:30, except for Sundays, which will be 2 p.m. matinees.

Barefoot in the Park was a 1967 comedy film starring Robert Redford as Paul and Jane Fonda as Corie. It was based on Neil Simon’s 1963 play of the same name and focuses on newlyweds Corie and Paul and their adventures living in a tiny sixth floor walk-up apartment in a Greenwich Village brownstone.

Paul is a hard-working young attorney just starting his practice while his wife is focused on creating a romantic environment for them in their one room with no heat, a hole in the skylight and strange neighbors.

The title is in reference to the fact that Paul will not go running barefoot in the park with Corie because of his ultra-cautious demeanor. Thus this phrase is a look into the major differences between the two of them and is referenced visually until a climactic scene.

The theatre box office opens one hour prior to each performance. General admission is $15. For more information or special accommodations, call 956-665-3581 or visit
