The annual McAllen International Travel Show will be held Wednesday and Thursday, Jan. 7-8, at the McAllen Convention Center on Ware Road. The show is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and admission is free.

The show will offer a variety of vendors displaying opportunities for travel adventures for Winter Texans both in the Rio Grande Valley and while they are in route back north to their homes. There will also be opportunities for foreign adventures through travel companies attending the show.

20150101 Attendees-enjoy-the-Travel-ShowLocal cities will have representation, including Brownsville, Edinburg, Harlingen, Hidalgo, Mission, Port Isabel, Rio Grande City and South Padre Island, to let visitors know about the various activities offered in their communities. Dolphin Tours, Osprey Tours and other attractions on South Padre Island will have their own information booths.

Other communities throughout Texas will also be present to tell visitors of places to visit in their communities as they travel back home. They include Alice, Amarillo, College Station (home of the President George Bush Sr. Library), Laredo and others from different parts of Texas.

Oklahoma will have representatives from Chickasaw and Chocktaw Counties offering information on what Winter Texans can do there during their trips home or during the summer when they are traveling in their RVs.

Go with Jo Tours will have a list of all the activities they are providing here in the Valley and some trips to other locations in Texas that may be of interest to Winter Texans. R&J Tours will be offering a similar service.

For those who wish to venture into Mexico, the Turismo of San Luis Potosi, Sinaloa, Tamaulipas and Zacatecas will have booths offering opportunities to travel in their areas. The McAllen Passport Division will be there to advise travelers of what they need before traveling internationally.

A Mexican Artisan Expo will be held in conjunction with the travel show on Jan. 7-8. Over 80 artists from Mexico will be displaying all kinds of products made in Mexico ranging from pottery and children’s toys to salsa. On Jan. 9 this show will move to the McAllen Creative Incubator located at 601 N. Main.

There will be a full line-up of entertainment including “Experience the Mind Magic and Mystery of David Sage” Gary (Gomer) & Patsy Crain, David Saenz, “Strings, Keys & Harmony,” folkloric dancing and other entertainment.
