/20180201 Travel Show LauraRobles 2If you enjoy getting out and having fun, then you’ll want to come out to the McAllen Travel, Health & Wellness Expo to see all the great travel destinations and fun things to do – both near and far. If you like getting special deals on doing all that fun stuff, then you’ll definitely want to come check out the Expo specials offered by this year’s exhibitors.

The Texas State Aquarium will be giving out Winter Texan coupons good for 50 percent off the regular admission price to see the newly expanded aquarium, which now features the new Caribbean Journey exhibit that was completed in 2017. This new exhibit includes an expansive jungle with free-flying birds and aquatic overlooks, the 400,000-gallon H-E-B Caribbean Sea with sharks, stingrays and other species, and the Whataburger 4-Dimension Theater.

Breakaway Cruises is another exhibitor with some special deals for Expo visitors, including an 8-hour deep sea fishing expedition with a complimentary 4-hour bay fishing ticket. The deep sea fishing trip alone is normally $85 and the bay fishing trip is usually $25. At the Expo you can get both for $70, according to Lyndia Luna, sales manager at Breakaway.

The 8-hour deep-sea trip includes a limit of four red snapper, plus any other legal catch that’s in season, and they provide everything you’ll need. The bay fishing trip usually reels in whiting, sand trout and/or speckled trout. No limit. Both trips launch out of South Padre Island.

Breakaway Cruises is also offering a special on their 4-hour Historical Port Brownsville Tour, which includes a narrated tour with views of the port, the ship channel, shrimp boats, oil rigs and local wildlife. The package also includes and all-you-can-eat authentic Cajun shrimp boil and all the beverages (beer and sodas) you can drink. The dinner includes shrimp, sausage, buttery corn and potatoes cooked on board. Expo visitors get $10 off this tour package.

These are just two of the exhibitors at this year’s Travel, Health & Wellness Expo. Other travel exhibitors include Schlitterbahn, Southern Wave Sailing Charters, Osprey Cruises and Viva Tours. Visitors will also be able to learn more about several hotels such as La Quinta Inn & Suites, Cambria Hotels and Renaissance Casa de Palmas.

Some of the far away destinations featured at this year’s Expo include San Luis Potosi; Coahuila, Mexico; and Zacatecas, Mexico, as well as Fort Smith, Arkansas.

At little closer to home, exhibitors from the Valley will include Gladys Porter Zoo, the Museum of South Texas History, Valley Nature Center, Quinta Mazatlan, and several of the RGV chambers of commerce and convention and visitors centers.

Remember too, there will be great entertainment all day, plus free prizes and giveaways, including a free Staycation package.

Whether you want to travel far and wide, or stay closer to home, the Travel, Health & Wellness Expo has lots to offer – and it’s always free admission.

The Expo will be held Feb. 13-14, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the McAllen Convention Center located at 700 Convention Center Boulevard, McAllen.
