20180208 McAllen Health Wellness Vision Screening 0084Once again this year, the Travel, Health and Wellness Expo will merge the "Heart of the Valley" Health Fair with the McAllen International Travel Show at the McAllen Convention Center in a single better and greater event. Rio Grande Regional Hospital, Boggus Ford and the Winter Texan Times are the title sponsors for this event in partnership with the McAllen Chamber of Commerce.

The Travel, Health and Wellness Expo will be hosted on Feb. 13 and 14 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the McAllen Convention Center. With over 7,000 thousand expected to attend, this is the largest health event in the Rio Grande Valley.

Free health screenings, glucose examinations, in-house massages, healthy nutrition ideas, and stress management information will be available for attendees to enjoy. In addition, exhibitors will provide valuable information on professional health care solutions, good nutrition and healthy habits.

Some of the free health screenings expected to be provided, courtesy of Rio Grande Regional Hospital or other exhibitors at the Expo, include cholesterol, body mass index (BMI), blood pressure and eye screenings. Some screenings, such as cholesterol and blood glucose, require fasting for 8-12 hours. Visual screenings will be available for blood circulation and dental exams.

The Expo will bring local businesses together with the community to promote a healthy lifestyle in the Rio Grande Valley and bring awareness about wellness solutions for the attendees.

Among the businesses expected to participate are health care providers, dentist offices, pharmacies, nutritionist advisors, massage therapists and spas, weight loss product businesses, insurance companies, sport clubs and organizations, stress management services, holistic centers, financial management, travel agencies, and tour operators among many others.

Our sponsors, Boggus Ford, Rio Grande Regional Hospital and Winter Texan Times make it possible for the Travel, Health & Wellness Expo to present a broad selection of destinations and attractions and to promote local culture to all who attend.

This year’s entertainment at the Expo will feature the Las Vegas style tribute to “The Rat Pack” with performers representing Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr., plus Marilyn Monroe. Also appearing at this year’s Expo will be one of the Rio Grande Valley’s best bands, The Agency.

Also performing at this year’s show will be Key & Strings, Lauren Corzine, Brooks Ausborn, Eddie Saenz, and Caitlyn Ausborn.

So stop by the McAllen Convention Center, located at 700 Convention Center Blvd., and visit exhibitors from around the region and beyond for the best deals on vacation packages, find health and wellness solutions, stay around for the awesome music and win prizes, of course.

Admission is always free!
