Dawes Ave. Join the City of Harlingen for the Lighting of the Arroyo at McKelvey Park on Thursday, December 5 from 6 to 9 p.m. The park is located at 1325 S. 77 Sunshine Strip. Harlingen will host their Holiday Parade on Friday, December 6, from 6 to 9 p.m. in downtown Harlingen on Jackson Street. South Padre Island will have a myriad of events starting with their tree lighting ceremony on Thursday, December 5 at the South Padre Island Multimodel Building, 321 Padre Blvd. After a welcome from the mayor, the tree will be lit at 5:45 p.m. On Friday, December 6, SPI will host their lighted street parade at 6 p.m. The route will be Padre Blvd from Mars to Acapulco, on the east side of the medians only. Bring a beach chair and watch from the sidewalk. The ever-anticipated lighted boat parade will be held on Saturday, December 7 at 6 p.m. The route begins at Sea Ranch Marina. Enjoy the cool winter breeze and watch as illuminated boats of all sizes cruise through Laguna Madre Bay. Designated viewing areas throughout the route offer free public viewing. Step into the holiday spirit at Winter Wonderland on South Padre Island. Taking place alongside the Lighted Boat Parade, this festive celebration has something for everyone. Enjoy live music, browse local vendors for unique holiday gifts, and visit with Santa. The event will be held at 2601 Laguna Blvd. from 5 to 9 p.m. The City of Pharr will have their Winter Wonderland event on Friday, December 6. Join the City of Pharr for an enchanted evening of winter magic, sparkling lights, and festive cheer from 6 to 10 p.m. The lighting of the Christmas Tree will be at 7:30 p.m. The event will be held at the Pharr Downtown Park at 200 S. Cage Blvd. Spread holiday cheer and celebrate the season with lights, music, and festive fun at San Benito’s Christmas on the Resaca and Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, December 6, at 6 p.m. The event will feature music, an ice-skating rink, vendors, and more. It will be held at Heavin Memorial Park, 705 N. Bowie St. The City of San Benito is also gearing up for their holiday parade that will be held on Saturday, December 14 at 6 p.m. You can still register to participate in their parade until December 11. Veterans Blvd. There will be craft vendors, entertainment and more. The holiday season has already begun in Brownsville. They have had a variety of events and still have more happening to celebrate the season. Currently the Holiday Village at Dean Porter Park is open to visitors. Visitors can stroll through this enchanting village display that brings the holiday spirit alive with beautifully decorated cottages and lights. You can even take your chance at finding Fritter the Elf, participating in the scavenger hunt, or watching entertainment that is scheduled throughout the month. It will be held at Washington Park at 1157 E. Washington St. Gladys Porter Zoo will host Zoo Nights and Lights Friday December 6 through Sunday, December 8 from 6 to 9 p.m. The zoo is located at 500 E. Ringgold St. The Charro Days Fiesta Association Annual Christmas Parade will be held on Saturday, December 7 from 7 to 9 p.m. along Elizabeth St. It will feature festive floats, performers, and holiday fun. Hidalgo’s Festival of Lights Illuminated Christmas Parade will be held on Friday, December 6 at 7 p.m. It will be held along Ayala Dr. between Bridge St. and 10th St. Don’t miss out on a night of holiday cheer with food and vendors.
