Y’all are fun to be around and definitely brighten my day and often keep me smiling for days after you share what you have done. Your parks have many things for you to participate in – dances, pickleball, quilting, billiards, R/C racing, and more. Some have yearly fundraisers for a chosen organization. Many have special things they do for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Veterans Day. We love seeing what you are doing for the community. If you need help finding a way to help yours, there are many communities that everyone knows of – Salvation Army, Ronald McDonald House Charities, food banks, etc. Then there are lesser-known ones. One way to find something in your area is to go to www.justserve.org and enter in your city or zip code. Right now, you will see several for the LA fires, but when you scroll down, you will find places closer to you. Just by searching up McAllen, you can find Sleep in Heavenly Peace, Mujeres Unidas/Women Together, Mercy Chefs Production Kitchen at FUMC, Food Bank of the RGV, Lasagna Love, and Take Photos of Gravestones. Many of these are ongoing – so they are always looking for volunteers. This website is updated regularly and can be used anywhere. So be sure to check it out if you are looking for somewhere to help.
