This unique concert features new music by the internationally recognized composer Reena Esmail, promising an unforgettable evening of extraordinary musical performances. Renowned bassoon soloist Kristin Wolfe Jensen and celebrated guitar soloist Dieter Hennings Yeomans will grace the stage, bringing their exceptional talents to this inspiring event. Joining these artists on stage to perform will be Brownsville ISD and San Benito ISD teachers and students who will make up the first ever Cameron Guitar Orchestra. As if that isn’t enough, you will be thrilled and uplifted by the voices of a vocal quintet led by the UTRGV music faculty. This piece, entitled “Presence,” weaves together five movements of great character, nuance, and serious excitement that was composed less than 12 months ago. The music of “First Light,” created by Austin-based composer Matthew Lyons, wonderfully complements Esmail’s work through haunting, dreamlike song from a soprano, Diane Taylor, and a mezzo Soprano, Dr. Shayna Isaacs, accompanied by a guitar choir. This special event will be held on Saturday, February 1 at TSC Performing Arts Center, 90 Taylor Ave., in Brownsville, at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. General admission tickets are available for $20. Seniors (60+) can purchase tickets for half price with ID. Discount tickets are only available at the door. Otherwise, regular price tickets are available at the door, and online at https://brosoperformingarts.org/brownsville-makes-music. Join BSPA for an evening of captivating performances and musical brilliance, celebrating and experiencing local creative talents combined with nationally and internationally recognized artists. This event is brought to you by the Brownsville Society for the Performing Arts. For more information about the BSPA and this event, please visit the website brosoperformingarts.org.
