It was so special that 39 Kansans joined the group for their first time. Yay!! This year’s event took place at Peter Piper Pizza in Weslaco. We heard many positive comments about this venue: its central location within The Valley; each person’s cost was much less than the last few years (based on your individual order); and the amount of time available for getting to know your Kansas neighbor. Jan Bergman, chair of the event, and Larry Schmitt, communications, facilitated the day’s events. The organizers also thank the volunteers that facilitated registration and distributing the door prizes. Jan works hard throughout the year to accumulate the door prizes. We are also thankful to some of the attendees that brought a door prize to share. Plans for the 2026 Celebration are in process. Mark your calendars for Tuesday, January 27, 2026. If Larry has your contact information, that is great. If not, please email your information to Larrys13@icloud.com. Pictured are Martha and Larry Schmitt, Jan Bergman and Rusty Rierson. Check out the happy crowd. The event was full of gospel music, some comedy, and most of all worship and testimonies. The event was free, but they also took donations for local charities. Bob and Alta Courtney performed as themselves and as Redneck Revival. Along with them were the husband-and-wife duo of See GME pg. 21 2024 GME. Photo by Carina Brunson
