This rare beauty is a must-see for birders and nature lovers alike. Make sure to visit and hopefully catch a rare glimpse of this rare beauty in McAllen’s urban sanctuary. Quinta Mazatlán is located at 600 Sunset Drive. Admission is $5 for adults, $2 for kids and children two and under are free. Women Together invites WT to dance fundraiser Women Together/Mujeres Unidas is inviting the Winter Texan community to their first annual Dance Your Heart Out for a Cause, benefiting the organization. The event will take place on Thursday, February 20, from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Mustang Lounge Night Club, located at 3610 E. Expressway 83, in Weslaco. The evening will feature music, dancing, raffles, silent auctions and more. It promises to be an unforgettable night of fun and community support for an important cause. Mujeres Unidas provides a vital service to the community. They are asking for support through monetary donations. Proceeds from this fundraiser will bring in much-needed funds for the Mujeres Unidas Shelter and essential services. Tickets to the event are $20 or 2 for $35. Mujeres Unidas is the only agency in Hidalgo County that provides emergency shelter, trauma-informed counseling, and support services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Support services include crisis intervention, peer counseling, legal advocacy, transitional housing and more. Upon request, Mujeres Unidas staff also provide prevention education and community awareness on the topics of domestic violence and sexual assault. They have been providing services since 1978. In 2024, the organization provided crisis intervention services and other non-residential services to a total of 3,162 people who called their hotline or were seen face-to-face by advocates. In addition, 144 women, two men, and 207 children were provided emergency shelter. They are also offering sponsorship donations. Sponsors get tickets depending on their sponsorship amount - $100 to $1,000. Mujeres Unidas is a non-profit organization, so donations are tax-deductible.
