Re:wild Your Campus is an organization on a mission to make campus grounds more sustainable. This presentation will give you actionable ways to get involved, either as a student or community member, through the lens of pesticide reduction and increased biodiversity on campus grounds and community spaces for the sake of human and environmental health. Mackenzie Feldman recently received her master’s from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in the Agricultural, Environmental, and Sustainability Sciences program. She is the founder and co-director of Re:wild Your Campus, an organization that works with colleges across the country to eliminate synthetic pesticides on campus grounds and support groundskeepers in the transition to organic, biodiverse land management. Mackenzie is currently a 2024-2025 Obama Foundation USA Leader and is co-author, with her mother Kathy, of the book Ground bakers: 60+ Plant-Based Comfort Food Recipes and 16 Leaders Changing the Food System. Local aspiring models and royalty from various pageant systems will be featured in the production. February is National Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month. The theme for this years’ Awareness campaign is “United for Love”. Models will wear spirit fashions promoting the Prevention of Teen Dating Violence during one of the modeling segments. Fashions from several local boutiques will be featured. The event will be held on Saturday, February 22, at 2 pm at the Radisson Hotel, 2721 S. 10th Street, in McAllen.
