The sponsors were the Winter Texan Times, Mission Regional Medical Center and City of Mission. The Mission Chamber hosts the event each year to show their appreciation for the Winter Texans that visit Mission and its surrounding communities each year. Mission is the number one Winter Texan destination in the Rio Grande Valley. The afternoon was also filled with fun and exciting entertainment by The Night Howlers, Quentin Flagg, Mariachi Nuevo Cascabel, and Bruce Boudreau. The audience participated in songs by each musician and stood and hollered with several of the numbers as well. Bruce Boudreau sang his new release “I Got Hitched” to the delight of the crowd. Mariachi Nuevo Cascabel brought the crowd to their feet so they could see all of the beautifully colored dresses twirl to the dances. Flagg got the crowd to do some hollering and MISSION From pg. 1 wave their hands in the air while The Night Howlers and Bruce also brought some audience members to their feet to dance by the stage. We enjoyed getting to hear how the Winter Texans use the Winter Texan Times in their daily jaunts. One lady said she uses her copy to go ‘garage saleing’ on the weekends. Others said they enjoyed the stories and learning about the events that are held throughout the Valley. It’s always interesting to hear from those that have been reading the paper for 25 years or more, and those that say that they have to make sure they get their copy every week. It’s also heartwarming to hear from Winter Texans that have been coming to the Valley for over 20 years and have now decided to stay up north or make south Texas their home. We enjoy being part of this event to show our appreciation for you. Be sure to come out next year on the first Friday of the month of March. We’ll see you there.
