Ranging from the romantics to the contemporary with piano, cello, jazz, voice and percussion, these community concerts are immersed in the fine art galleries of the International Music of Art and Science and great for the whole family. On November 16, visitors can enjoy the UTRGV Opera Theatre: Masquerades, Marriage, and Mischief. The Romantic Cello: Janacek, Jessie Montgomery, and Rachmaninoff will be presented on December 14. UTRGV faculty pianist Dr. Brendan Kinsella and guest artist Dr. Daniel Saenz performs a soulful afternoon of music for violoncello and piano. From Janacek’s dreamy and imaginative “Fairy Tale” to Rachmaninoff”s thrilling Sonata for Violoncello and Piano, this recital is sure to delight and inspire. A jazz combo directed by Marco Guerra will play on January 25, 2026. February 22, 2026 will be an Afternoon of Marimba with the UTRGV Percussion Studio. This program will feature students performing solo pieces and chamber music for the marimba. The marimba is a large keyboard instrument with wooden keys, praised for its resonance and pleasing tones. March 29, 2026, will feature Elle et moi: A Celebration of Women in French Melodie. The concert will feature Soprano Diane Walkter and pianist Michael Ensign. The last concert of the season will be on May 3, 2026, featuring Alma Flamenca, a live performance featuring selections from an upcoming recording of the same name. In this concert, guitarist Kurt Martinez and percussionist Marco Guerra explore the expressive depth and rhythmic vitality of authentic flamenco, presenting arrangements that highlight the intimate dialogue between guitar and percussion. The concerts are included with general admission. Free for IMAS Members and UTRGV College of Fine Arts Patrons of the Arts. General Admission is $9 for adults, $5 for seniors 65+. UTRGV Arts has full November schedule Feel the spirit of fall all around this month through shows provided by UTRGV Arts. This month brings a wonderful mix of dance, music, art, and more to enjoy. Tonight, you have the chance to enjoy some music with the Wind Orchestra and Symphonic Winds at the UTRGV Performing Arts Complex, 1201 W. University Dr., in Edinburg. The show will be at 7 p.m. General admission is $10. Enjoy a lively performance featuring music, old and new, crafting a vibrant program of excitement and beauty. They will perform again on Thursday, November 13, in Brownsville at the TSC Performing Arts Center, 90 Taylor Ave. The UTRGV Guitar Ensemble will perform at the UTRGV Performing Arts Complex on Thursday, November 13. They will perform works by Francis Kleynjans, Eduardo Martin, Manuel de Falla, Jorge Morel, Ruben Fuentes, Domenico Scarlatti, and Carlos Gardel. Bridging Baroque elegance and modern Latin American expression, the program highlights the ensemble’s commitment to a wide range of styles, interpretive richness, and exploring different musical traditions within the guitar repertoire. A piano recital will be held in Edinburg with free admission on Saturday, November 15, at 7 p.m. Multiple pianos and multiple hands piano repertoire will be explored by the piano area students, piano faculty and beyond. The piano recital will also be held in Brownsville, at One W. University Blvd., on Sunday, November 16 at 7 p.m. The nationally award-winning Mariachi Aztlan will perform Tuesday, November 18, at 7 p.m., in Edinburg. They will represent the beauty of Hispanic music and cultural traditions as they have done throughout Mexico, Canada and the US. Join them for a lively and colorful performance to include all of UTRGV’s mariachi groups. Join UTRGV Arts at the TSC Performing Arts Center on Wednesday, November 19, for a Faculty Showcase Recital featuring individual and collaborative works by the Brownsville campus applied music faculty. It will be held at 7 p.m. General admission is $10. Enjoy the UTRGV Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Norman Gamboa for a powerful performance featuring works by Brahms, Ortiz and Zyman on Thursday, November 20, at 7 p.m. The performance will be held at the UTRGV Performing Arts Center in Edinburg. The UTRGV Theatre presents Bright Ideas, “A comedy about ambition, parenting, and pesto – Bright Ideas follows a couple willing to do anything (literally anything) to get their toddler into the best preschool.
