The effort calls for collecting winter essentials for local youth, with donations supporting the Teen Essential Shelves at the Lark, Palm View, and Main branches. This year, the drive has expanded to include infants through eleven-year-olds, making it easier for families to access the items they need during the colder months. Community members are invited to donate new or gently used winter wear, including coats, sweaters, gloves, scarves, beanies, and other cold-weather essentials. “Our library has always been a place where families can turn for support,” said Kate Horan, Library Director. “This drive helps us meet real needs and makes a difference for kids who deserve to feel warm and cared for.” McAllen City Manager Isaac J. Tawil shared his appreciation for the effort, noting, “What I value about this drive is how practical it is.
