Based on the beloved DreamWorks story, this hilarious and heartwarming show features book and lyrics by David Lindsay Abaire and music by Jeanine Tesori. Performances will run February 27 and 28 and March 1, 6, 7, and 8 at the theatre located at 1209 Fair Park Blvd. Friday and Saturday shows begin at 7:30 p.m., with Sunday matinees at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for children under 18. Seats may be purchased online or at the door, pending availability. This production is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International. They also have designated handicapped seating. Performances are open seating – but there isn’t a bad seat in the house. They are a non-profit community theatre company. They produce four to five Broadway quality musicals or plays per year. The cast members are all local talent from the RGV. They hold auditions for each show, and the cast includes children, teens, and adults. There are also opportunities for volunteers to work behind the scenes. Pharr Community Theater announces acting workshops The Pharr Community Theater is excited to offer a new series of acting workshops for kids, teens, and adults, throughout the month of March, for those who wish to learn, grow, or sharpen their theatre skills. These hands-on workshops focus on the fundamentals of acting, including stage presence, character development, voice, movement, and confidence—taught by a PCT professional, in a fun, supportive, and creative environment. Whether you’re brand new to the stage or looking to expand your experience, these workshops are designed to inspire creativity and build strong performance skills for all levels. Adult classes will be held on Saturdays from 2 to 4 p.m. (total of eight hours). The workshops are available to the first 10 to register for each class. $135 per student.
