January 4-31 – The Art of Quilting at Weslaco Museum. Join the museum for an exquisite showcase of vintage and contemporary quilts from the museum’s collection. Whether you are a seasoned quilter or simply appreciate the beauty of the craft, this exhibition is not to be missed. Exhibit can be viewed from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The museum is located at 500 S. Texas Blvd.

January 6 – March 31 – IMAS will host the exhibit Ancient Landscapes of South Texas: Hiding in Plain Sight which illuminates the unique landscape and helps curious minds to understand the natural processes that formed south Texas. Along with the exhibit, a viewing of the documentary will be shown at 3 p.m. on February 3. The museum is located at 1900 W. Nolana Ave. in McAllen.

January 19 – Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park will hold Campfire Music at 5 p.m. The event requires a reservation. The park is located at 2800 S. Bentsen Pal Dr., Mission. Call (956) 584- 9156 for more information.

January 20 – The McAllen Marathon Scott Crane Run will take place with a marathon, half-marathon, 10K, 5K, and Kids Final Mile, starting at the McAllen Convention Center, 700 Convention Blvd., with runs starting at 7 a.m. Register online by January 19 by visiting www.mcallenmarathon.com.

January 20 – Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park will host S’More History at 3 p.m. the event requires a reservation. The park is located at 2800 S. Bentsen Pal Dr., Mission. Call (956) 584- 9156 for more information.

January 20 – The Brownsville Farmers Market will be held at 9 a.m. at Linear Park, E. 6th St. and E. Ringgold St. The event is held every Saturday.

January 20 – Firemen’s Park in McAllen will host the Growing Growers Farmers Market at 9 a.m. The park is located at 201 N. 1st St. The event is held every Saturday.

January 20 – McAllen Public Library will host UFO Encounters of the Close Kind at 1 p.m. UFO researchers and authors, Noe Torres, Stephen Andrasko and Bill Forson, Director of RGV MUFON will discuss cases of reported sighting at the main Library on 23rd and Nolana.

January 21 – Buena Vida 77 Farmer’s Market will be held at Bannworth Park Pavilion in Mission from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Bannworth Park is located at 1822 N. Shary Rd.

January 21 – The RGV Concert Band will have a concert at Ranchero Village in Weslaco.

January 23 – The Native Plant Project’s speaker of the month will be Joey Santore who will discuss on how to ‘kill your lawn’ to install native plant gardens, rare plants of the Valley, and more. January 24 – McAllen Main Library on 23rd and Nolana will host Enclosing the Fictions – Sorting Through the History and Distortions of the Holocaust, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Join J.E. Wolfson, PhD, State Coordinator of Education of the Texas Holocaust, Genocide, and Antisemitism Advisory Commission as he discusses the history and misconceptions of the Holocaust.

January 26, 27, 28 – SPI Market Days will be held at the SPI Convention Center, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. There will be vendors, food, and fun. Admission is $1. Visit www.spimarketdays.com for more information.
