Boleros and romantic Latin concert in the park

20230201 Boleros and Romantic Latin Entertainers Ceci Bri webQuinta Mazatlan is proud to present an early Valentines Concert in the Park on Thursday, February 9th, 6 p.m. in the evening. The concert features Cecy and Bri who are a contemporary classical duo. Throughout the years, they have collaborated as performers, music educators, and now as “Dos Voces,” which integrates their disciplines of voice, piano, and guitar. Open to innovation and fun, these two explore the Bolero as well as Jazz, Soul, and other contemporary genres.

Kenaston Band host blind singer Justin Trevino

During the last week of January, the Kenastons, long-time favorite entertainers among Winter Texan residents, hosted blind singer Justin Trevino as their special guest.

Trevino was born in the Valley but his parents moved to Austin so he could attend the school for the blind as a child. Once a winter he comes down to visit relatives. For the past five years he has played with the Kenastons during those visits.

Nu-Blu brings their own brand of roots music to the RGV

Want to hear authentic music that takes you on a rollercoaster of emotion?  Then look for Nu-Blu, a popular nationally touring acoustic roots band making its third tour of the Rio Grande Valley.

Nu-Blu celebrated the start of their 20th year entertaining with their first show of the tour season on January 7 at Seven Oaks RV Park in Mission, and it was a show not to be missed.

Leslie Blasing is always a hit with Winter Texans

“What Kind of music do you like?” asked Leslie Blasing as she started her show at Hidden Valley Ranch on Monday, January 23. “I sing all sort of music from 10 decades of songs in genres such as country, pop, swing, rock and roll, and patriotic.

“But I don’t do rap!” she told her audience. “My favorite music is from the big swing band music in the World War II era.”

6th Annual Children’s Haven Benefit Concert to be held

257364524 5275508629128018 1859660096786732746 n webThe 6th Annual Children's Haven Benefit Concert will be held on Friday, February 3 from 2 to 4 p.m. The event will be held at the Rio Grande Bible Ministries Friesen Building, 4300 S. US Hwy. 281, in Edinburg. Winter Texan favorites Dale and Gayle and Ambassadors of Grace will be performing.

A love offering will be received during the concert, with 100 percent of the proceeds given to Children’s Haven.

Lunar New Year Festival at IMAS

20230118 IMAS LNY games 2019 webCelebrate the Year of the Rabbit at the International Museum of Art & Science (IMAS) on Sunday, January 29, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The 11th annual Lunar New Year Festival will feature traditional Chinese, Korean, and Taiwanese crafts, games, and more.

Special performances and activities are scheduled throughout the event for visitors to soak in the cultural celebration that welcomes the arrival of Spring. The community can tap their feet to K-pop dancing by Illusion Dance Team, and “K-Stars” featuring Echo Effect and Levanter Dance Team. Enjoy the sounds of the Lord’s Church McAllen Choir and musical pieces by local violist Young Sin Choi. UTRGV Korean Language students will perform a traditional samulnori,(percussion), poetry reading, and singing. Lastly, Torres Taekwondo Academy will showcase martial arts with a lively demonstration.
