 February 12 through March 6

The Hidalgo Watercolor Society Annual Exhibit will open February 12 and run through March 6. The exhibit will be displayed at the Upper Valley Art League (UVAL) at 921 E. 12th St. in Mission. The exhibit features art made by Winter Texans and local artists. A “Meet the Artists” event will be held on Saturday, February 13th, outside, with gallery viewing from 4 to 6 p.m. Gallery hours are Thursdays and Fridays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Masks and social distancing are required for all events. Now through March 28

IMAS presents Max Vityk’s Warriors of Light on exhibit in the main gallery. In this series Vityk investigates the narrative elements and figures of ancient rock engravings and mythological and folk symbols. The exhibit is comprised of 12 large acrylic paintings. February 27

While the official events – parade, carnival, costume ball – for Charro Days have been cancelled for this year, The Sombrero Festival will be held virtually. There will be a Sombrero Festival en Casa virtual show on Saturday, February 27. The show will feature a virtual variety show that you can watch in the comfort of your own home. There are several events you can get involved in now to be part of that show. The show will be live on Facebook at 7 p.m. on Saturday February 27.

February 27 and 28

Ron Hoover will be having a Boat Expo at their RV and Marine Center, 101 Expressway 83 in Donna, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, February 27, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, February 28. The event will be free admission and drinks. There will be a full seminar schedule for both days, food vendors, games, prizes, and a flea market.

Weekly

The Mission Food Park will be open weekly Thursday through Sunday. Thursday will be from 4 to 10 p.m., Friday 4 p.m. to 12 a.m., Saturday 2 p.m. to 12 a.m. and Sundays will be open from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. Mission Food Park, powered by the Mission EDC, is located at the CEED building on Bryan Road and U.S. Business 83. The site is the permanent location of Jitterz coffee bar and local brewery 5x5 Brewing Co., which will be operating during the food park hours. The food park will host a variety of food trucks including Queenie, Motoramen, Sahadi’s, and Pineapple Ninjaz. The Senior Texas Slow Pitch Fun Softball League, geared for players over 55, will be meeting weekly at 9 a.m. at West Side Park on Ware Road in McAllen. The B League (intermediate ability) will be meeting on Mondays and Wednesdays. The A League (more competitive) will be meeting on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
