September 27 – The Valley Nature Center in Weslaco, 301 S. Border St., will host Native Plant Project’s guest speaker John Brush, Urban Ecologist for the City of McAllen, at 7:30 p.m. The title of John's presentation is "Native Plants for Wildlife." His program will include an introduction to native plants of the Rio Grande Valley, provide recommendations on how to choose the plants for your space, and explore the relationships between the native plants and local wildlife. Brush spends most of his time at Quinta Mazatlan Word Birding Center of McAllen where he oversees rewilding/restoration projects, develops community partnerships, gives educational programs, and serves as a park naturalist. September 30-October 9 – Pharr Community Theater presents Salt and Pepper. Showing will be at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 3 p.m. on Sundays. All tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door if available (48 seats per showing). Get advance tickets at www.pharrcommunitytheater.com. The play explores family, friendships, and illiteracy. Salt's grandfather can't read or write. He's ashamed to tell anyone, and his silence has had a devastating effect on the entire family. Salt can barely read, and Pepper, his new friend, reads voraciously. Together they discover a past, the secrets of which are revealed in an old box of mysterious postcards. October 1-31 – The UTRGV School of Art & Design will present their UTRGV Faculty Exhibition in all Galleries in the Visual Arts Annex in Edinburg, Rustenberg Galley in Brownsville and Charles and Dorothy Clark Gallery in Edinburg.

October 1-2 – The 2022 Showdown at the Arroyo MTB Race will be held at Arroyo Park, 1101 E. New Hampshire, Harlingen. Marathon races will be held at Monte Bella Trails, 2485 W. Alton Gloor Blvd. in Brownsville. There will be solo and relay races for all ages.
