The Rio Grande Valley Jammin’ Sound Miracle
Throughout the year, there are three senior park communities that continuously offer music jams open to the public musicians and listeners: Green Gate Grove in Palmview, Heritage Square in Mission and Quiet Village II in Donna. Each November, this changes as the Winter Texans leave their Northern habitat and arrive in the RGV. Currently, there are music jams at 53 senior parks that are open to the public.

Christmas memories and a Happy New Year
Brrr! It’s been cold. Too cold for me to go exploring. My South Texas blood is just not ready for winter weather. And was it ever cold and windy at the beach. A few hearty souls walked the beach probably looking for that prize shell that all of us hope to find. Those angry, wind tossed waves surely must have brought a real find to some adventurous soul.

Shufflers are shufflin’ again
It wasn’t very long ago that shuffleboard was shuffling itself in the wrong direction, not just in the Valley, but around the country.
Not only were fewer Winter Texans taking part in the long-loved sport, but COVID-19 added to its rapid slow-down.

This story is the history of one new Mexican matador that will be performing at the Santa Maria Bullring next month.
Cayetano Delgado, born in 1996 to Mexican matador Enrique Delgado Cayetano, grew up in the bullfight world. The icon matador David Renk ‘El Texano’ was his god father. When Cayetano was about 11 he started training to be a novice bullfighter. He had two great teachers, his father and David Renk. At the age of 13 he began a career in the bullfight world. To even consider doing this you need help with money.

By Barb Zanetti

Almost 1,000 presents were assembled. Santa was scheduled to appear with his buddy, The Grinch. The photographer was ready. Six hundred children and several dogs were registered online to receive gifts at The Landmark on Tower’s Second Annual Christmas party.
The only thing missing was more good help. Restaurant owner Roel Landa said he didn’t even know how much he needed Santa’s Winter Texan elves.
