LA GRANGE, TEXAS – June 1, 2020 – The Texas Quilt Museum has announced that it will reopen for visitors beginning Thursday, June 4, at 10 am.

The three exhibits for spring—which had just debuted when the Museum had to close in mid-March due to the worldwide pandemic and state’s orders—have been extended until September 20. They include “Texas Grand Masters: Timeless Quilts,” “Fun with Fractals and Other Mathematical Quilts,” and “My Mexico by Quilters de México.”

According to guidelines set by Governor Greg Abbott, all museums in the State of Texas were approved to reopen on May 1. Out of an abundance of caution, we made the decision to hold off our own reopening for a while longer. We will be adhering to the workplace guidelines established by the Governor’s office and our own policies including:

* Operating at 25% attendance capacity
* Establishing social distancing of 6 feet apart for visitors
* Offering additional hand sanitizing stations in areas around the galleries, lobby, gift shop, and restrooms
* And the wearing of masks is encouraged, but not required

Amended hours of operation will be Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 10 am-4 pm. The Museum will no longer be open on Sundays. The lovely Grandmother’s Flower Garden will be open for visitors, and the Museum gift shop will also be in operation. For those who are still quarantining, two of the exhibits are available to see in a Virtual Gallery (with the third to be added soon), at TexasQuiltMuseum.org.

“We’re ready to reopen and have our visitors see the beauty and creativity of these amazing works in person,” says Museum Manager Julie Maffei. “But in a way that is safe for all of our guests and staff!”

The Texas Quilt Museum is located at 140 W. Colorado St., La Grange, TX 78945. Hours are Thurs.-Sat. from 10 am-4 pm Learn more at www.texasquiltmuseum.org
