The Texas Citrus Fiesta, a nearly 90-year tradition for the City of Mission that pays homage to the influence of the citrus industry and the citrus growers of the area, has announced its rescheduled dates for the parade, fun fair and cook off. Originally scheduled for January, the events will now take place on Saturday, May 15.

The Parade of Oranges, Let Your Dream Blossom theme, will take place at 3 p.m. The parade will start at Griffin Parkway (FM 495) and Conway Avenue and head south to First Street.

The Fun Fair will be held at the corner of Griffin Parkway (FM 495) and Conway Avenue. The event will feature food, live music and entertainment, and education, arts and crafts, and commercial vendors. The fair will run from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The TCF Annual Vaquero Cook-off, a sanctioned bar-b-que competition, will take place at the same location, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cooks from all over the Valley will be competing for top chef in several categories. There will be $3,000 in cash and trophies up for grabs in the competition. Items represented and voted on in the cook-off are brisket, pork butt, pork ribs, and chicken; pan de campo, and citrus dessert.
