Cities throughout the Rio Grande Valley have had to make some adjustments to their Veterans ceremonies due to inclement weather. Some of these ceremonies are being rescheduled, locations are changing for a couple, and some are being cancelled. There are still one or two that will still occur as scheduled.

The City of Mission is making changes with almost every event they had scheduled.

Two events will remain the same. Mission Crime Stoppers 5k and Flag Laying at the RGV State Veterans Cemetery.

On Saturday, November 11, Mission Crime Stoppers will host a 5k at 7 a.m. at the Mission Hike and Bike Trails (1414 S. Conway). It is a timed race and costs $25. For more information, call (956) 648-9326.

There will be a Veterans Day Ceremony and Flag Laying at the RGV State Veterans Cemetery, 2520 S. Inspiration Rd., in Mission, starting at 9 a.m.
The R.E.D Flag Ceremony at the Mission Police Department (1200 E. 8th St.) has been rescheduled to Friday, November 17, at 9:30 a.m.

The Veterans Appreciation BBQ is also rescheduled for Friday, November 17. It will be held at the Mission Parks and Rec building, 721 N. Bryan Rd., from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The other events have been rescheduled for Saturday, November 18. The Veterans Parade will take place at noon, in downtown Mission, along Bus. 83 from Conway to Bryan. The Loud and Clear Veteran Music Festival and Chili Cook Off will take place from 12 to 11 p.m. at 5x5 Brewing and the Land of the Free Jeep Show will take place at 2 p.m. at 5x5 Brewing as well. 5x5 Brewing is located at 801 Bryan Rd.

The City of McAllen will still hold their Veterans Day Ceremony, but instead of being outside at the Veterans War Memorial, it will now take place inside, at the McAllen Convention Center, Room 103C, 700 Convention Center Blvd., at 10 a.m.

The City of Alamo has cancelled their Veterans Day Ceremony.
