20170210 Mission Quilt Show Winners JB 036 webThe Mission Historical Museum is delighted to announce the Eighteenth Annual Quilt Show, an event showcasing the talent and creativity of community members. Winter Texans and year-round residents are encouraged to enter and participate in this unique project. The quilts will be exhibited in the Museum’s Post Office building.

Admission is free, and participants are limited to one submission. Any quilt entered in the show within the past five years is not eligible to participate. A distinguished panel of independent judges will evaluate the quilts, with ribbons awarded for first, second, and third places in each category. The prestigious Best-of-Show and Viewers’ Choice awards will also be presented.

Categories include Hand-Quilted Bed Quilts, Machine-Quilted Bed Quilts, and Wall Hangings

Entries are on a first-in/first-accepted basis; limited space may prompt early closure. Only one item per person. Quilts entered in the past five years are not eligible for this year's show.

Obtain an entry form in person at the museum to participate. Applications are accepted through Thursday, January 4, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Quilts may be delivered any day before the January 4 deadline.

The Museum will be closed on December 22, 25, 29, and January 1 and 2. Early registration is encouraged due to limited space.

The exhibit opens on Saturday, January 13, 2024, and continues through Friday, February 16, 2024. An Awards Reception and Turning of the Quilts program will occur at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 19, 2024.
