Fan Painting Lunar New Year Festival webCelebrate the Year of the Dragon at the International Museum of Art & Science (IMAS) on Saturday, January 27, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The 12th annual Lunar New Year Festival, supported by the IMAS Guild, will feature traditional Chinese, Korean, and Taiwanese crafts, games, and more.

Discover the art of calligraphy, create a dragon puppet, and enjoy local eateries Snow Bite, Ulike Tea, and Han's Katsuya. Paper fan painting will also be available for an additional $3 per participant (limited supply).

“I’m excited to celebrate the Year of the Dragon at IMAS. With the support of local Asian and Asian-American communities, visitors can gain profound insights into the celebration of Lunar New Year, experiencing it through art, food, games, and fun.” stated IMAS Director of Education, Roni Cortez.

Festival admission is $5 with discounted $3 for children ages 4-12, students with an ID and senior citizens 65+. Museums for All (WIC/EBT) discount is $1 for up to four people per card. Children 3 and under, public school educators, active military, veterans, and IMAS Members receive free admission. Advanced tickets are recommended for express entry.

Participating partners include UTRGV Writing and Language Studies- Korean, Chamsarang Korean Presbyterian Church, International Mission Church, Lord's Church of McAllen, and Taiwanese American Association. The 12th annual Lunar New Year Festival is supported by the IMAS Guild.

The International Museum of Art & Science (IMAS) located in the Rio Grande Valley inspires audiences of all ages to explore art and science through its permanent collections, exhibits, programs, and partnerships by empowering learners to discover their interests and pursue their passions. The IMAS is fully accredited by the American Alliance of Museums and is an Affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution.
