20241023 Picture2 webMcAllen Public Library will be kicking off its 11th annual international-award winning book festival with an extensive slew of authors for readers of every age. Go find out who’s coming and all the exciting and fun activities taking place during the event, including storytelling, book sales, author signings and other special guest appearances. Visitors can also meet the new mascot, Marty the Library Cat.

The South Texas Book Festival will take place from October 29, through Saturday, November 2, at the McAllen Public Library, 4001 N. 23rd Street. The event will be free and open to the public.

The STBF is an annual event dedicated to celebrating culture and imagination with the community through a lineup of diverse authors and engaging events. This year there will be 25 featured authors.

The festival will kick off on Tuesday evening with a literary event celebrating poets from South Texas. Vida Verse: A celebration of South Texas Poets will be held in the Main Library Auditorium, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. On Wednesday, October 30, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. is a ticket only event (for $30) called Un Cafecito with the Authors. This event offers an intimate evening with four of the authors with book discussion, freshly brewed coffee, and pastries. The main event is on Saturday, November 2, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be authors, storytelling, book giveaways, food and more.
