McALLEN – As the year comes to a close, The Salvation Army invites the community to Give With Joy and make a lasting impact on neighbors in need. Your generosity helps provide food, shelter, emergency assistance and hope, not just during the holidays, but all year long.
“We encourage everyone to pause and reflect on the blessings you’ve received and consider sharing those blessings with others,” said Major Frankie Zuniga, with The Salvation Army in McAllen. “When you give to The Salvation Army, you’re not just making a donation - you’re helping transform lives right here in your community.”
Financial gifts are essential to sustain The Salvation Army’s programs and services throughout the year. Donations can be directed to specific locations or programs, ensuring your gift supports the causes you care about most. “There are so many ways to give,” added Zuniga. “You can make a tax-deductible one-time gift online, set up a monthly donation, donate goods, or even explore planned giving options. Every act of generosity makes a difference.”
Giving doesn’t just help those in need; it benefits the giver too.
“Donating to charity is deeply rewarding,” said Zuniga. “It can reduce stress, boost happiness and give you a sense of purpose. When you give with joy, everyone wins.”
There are many ways to give. You can give online by visiting the website at www.salvationarmymcallen.org to make a secure online gift. There is monthly giving where you can commit to a sustaining gift that provides year-round support. Non-cash contributions include stocks, bonds, or IRA rollovers. You could also do planned giving by including the Salvation Army in your wills, gift annuities and legacy gifts. The Salvation Army also accepts Bitcoin and Ethereum. Other options to help The Salvation Army are by donating goods, volunteering, donating a vehicle, or giving airline miles.
“The Salvation Army is so grateful for the community’s ongoing support, especially during the Christmas season. Thank you for donating to the red kettle campaign, for adopting children in need from the Angel Tree, and for generously giving your time to volunteer,” said Zuniga. “Your support helps provide meals throughout the year for the hungry, shelter for those experiencing homelessness and emergency assistance to families in crisis. Thank you for walking alongside The Salvation Army as we serve our community with compassion and hope.”
