VSO celebrates Maestro Peter Dabrowski’s 25th season

VSO Dabrowski webThe Valley Symphony Orchestra (VSO) proudly announces the official start of the 2025-26 Masterworks Season, a milestone year marking esteemed Music Director and Conductor Maestro Peter Dabrowski’s 25th year leading the orchestra. The season opens Friday, November 7 at 8 p.m. at the McAllen Performing Arts Center with Music of the Greats, featuring internationally acclaimed pianist Gabriela Martinez in a program of timeless works by Mozart, Sibelius, and Hindemith.

McAllen is alive with music and arts

The City of McAllen launched its Fall for the Arts celebration last month, marking the start of National Arts and Humanities Month with an event that highlighted the power of the arts to inspire, connect, and transform communities.

Irma Chapa, Director of the Office of Communications for the City of McAllen welcomed attendees and media then made mention of the vast programs and lineups this season, from Fiesta de Palmas to Symphony in the Park at Sunset Live and the upcoming Broadway Series.

Experience life along the San Antonio River through history

GOLIAD COUNTY – Goliad State Park will host its annual “Rio! Rio!” event on November 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Mission Espiritu Santo. This special event offers visitors the chance to step back in time and explore the skills and daily life of those who lived along the San Antonio River throughout history.

Attendees can participate in a variety of hands-on demonstrations and activities while reenactors and educators bring history to life. Displays include, but are not limited to blacksmithing, candle making, archaeology, spinning and weaving, Corn grinding, and ranching and roping.

Brownsville Latin Music Festival next weekend

Screenshot 2025 10 27 093521 webThe only annual Latin Music Festival in Texas is back. Featuring "Latin Jazz" by the very best. The Brownsville Latin Music Festival brings a full day of music, dance, and culture, celebrating BSPA's 30-years of bringing life-changing events to Brownsville.

Presented by the Brownsville Society for the Performing Arts (BSPA), this vibrant celebration takes place on Saturday, November 8 at the Jacob Brown Auditorium, with festivities running from 1 to 11 p.m.

VSO begins Masterworks season

Join the VSO on Friday, November 7 at 8 p.m. at the McAllen Performing Arts Center as they begin the new season and honor Maestro Peter Dabrowski’s 25th year leading the VSO. The evening will feature timeless works by Mozart, Sibelius, and Hindemith – composers who defined the symphonic tradition.

Edinburg seeks parade entries

The City of Edinburg extends an invitation to the community to participate in the much-anticipated annual Veterans Day Parade, scheduled for Saturday, November 8. This year's parade begins at 9:30 a.m. and will showcase a remarkable assembly of patriotic floats beginning at Richard R. Flores Stadium. These creatively crafted floats will follow a designated route ending at Kuhn Street. The event is entirely free and open to the public, providing an opportunity for everyone to come and celebrate.

Valley Birding Festival starts next week

2019 RGVBF Purple Gallinule webAs Valley bird migration picks up, get ready for the Annual Rio Grande Valley Birding Festival. The event is slated for November 5 through 9 at the Harlingen Convention Center, 701 Harlingen Heights Dr.

There will be over 100 fantastic field trip offerings to choose from including traditional tours through the parks the Valley is well known for as well as several new offerings such as private ranches for those seasoned returning festival birders. Special trips in the field with some of the featured speakers to further enhance their presentations are also always a great treat. In addition to field trips, they will also have keynote speakers, informative workshops, seminars, a giant tradeshow full of vendors, a silent auction, fun socials with local music and food, and of course all the birds.
