Celebrate the season with an unforgettable evening of music and culture at “From Texas for a Christmas”, a special holiday concert featuring award-winning singer-songwriter Tish Hinojosa. The concert will take place Saturday, December 20, at 7 p.m. at Quinta Mazatlán, McAllen’s urban sanctuary.
“From Texas for a Christmas” is also the title of one of Hinojosa’s acclaimed albums, and this concert brings that spirit to life beneath the stars. Known for using music to raise awareness of cultural and social issues, Hinojosa has released 16 albums in both English and Spanish, spanning genres including folk, country, pop, and Latino music.
Her passion for cultural diversity is a recurring theme in both her music and personal life. In addition to her award-winning cross-cultural recordings, Hinojosa is deeply involved in volunteer work and community outreach.
Among her many honors, Hinojosa has performed at the White House, won NAIRD Indie Folk Album of the Year for “Culture Swing”, and appeared at numerous presidential and gubernatorial inauguration events.
The evening will also recognize the Winter Solstice, the longest night of the year. Quinta Mazatlán naturalists will be on hand to give away Tasajillo and Christmas Cholla plants (while supplies last), along with a mini-pot for guests to paint and take home. Guests can enjoy sweet and savory treats and spirits while experiencing the concert under Quinta Mazatlán’s iconic old oak tree.
For added convenience, free shuttle service will be available from La Plaza Mall, located at 1400 Wichita Avenue. Guests are encouraged to park at the mall and ride the shuttle directly to Quinta Mazatlán. Tickets are available at
