The City of Edinburg is bringing back the joy of the holiday season with several fun-filled events. Last week they held their Lighting of the Tree where all the city’s light displays were lit up in the city’s downtown promenade. The tree and lights will remain lit for the entire month of December.
With the light displays at the promenade, the city invites visitors to enjoy the Holiday at the Promenade, with a self-guided tour of the holiday displays throughout the City Hall Promenade that extends from University Drive near 4th Street all the way to 9th Street and around the Edinburg Food Truck Park (Promenade Courtyard) and the Edinburg City Hall. Enjoy the lights all month long with friends and family; the Promenade Courtyard lights will not be available on December 10th due to a private event.
The delightful, and ever popular, group Razz Ma Tazz only has two more shows this season. They are performing several classic winter hits, such as "White Christmas," "Santa Baby," "Need a Little Christmas," as well as other contemporary versions of classics. In between each song, Razz members tell a fun story through skits. Remaining shows are December 8, Bit O Heaven, 7 p.m.; December 12, Winter Ranch, 2 p.m.; and December 12, Trophy Gardens, 7 p.m.
While there have been a few cities that have already had some of their Christmas celebrations – tree lightings, parades – this past week, there are still several cities throughout the Valley that are doing their start of Christmas season celebrations this week and next weekend. If your city isn’t listed, look for them online or on Facebook to see if they are having an event.
Just like clockwork every season, the well-known Nikki Rowe sing and dance group Razz Ma Tazz is making their rounds to the parks again. Every year, the Winter Texans look forward to this group visiting their park.
The International Museum of Art & Science (IMAS) presents a community Holiday Market to kick off this year’s annual Christmas Tree Forest “Christmas in the RGV” on Sunday, December 5.
