Tejano Christmas was delightful play

20161229 Tejano Christmas DSC 0017 KO“Tejano Christmas,” adapted from “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens, was a delightful addition to the festivities of the Christmas season.

The play was written and directed by Pedro Garcia, who also starred in the leading role. It was produced and first presented by the Pharr Community Theater.

With the assistance of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Watson who have been trying to convince the theater to take the plays to the parks for seven years, the play was presented in three different Winter Texan locations this season.

Branson entertainer Ralph Kuster delights audiences with one-man show

20161229 IMG 2950MISSION — Young and old alike came to life recently at Ralph Kuster’s Christmas Show at Valley View Estates RV Park.

Kuster, a one-man singing sensation, who has performed regularly in Branson, Mo., and has delighted Winter Texas across the Rio Grande Valley, performed something for everyone at a full house in Mission.

Men of A-Chord announce concert season

20161229 Men of A Chord IMG 19711The Men of A-Chord will be giving several concerts this season.  The group is known for their music sung a cappela in four-part, barbershop style harmony.

The choir practices on Tuesdays at 2 p.m. at St. Marks United Methodist Church in McAllen, located on the southwest corner of 2nd and Pecan.  For more information for possible additional concerts visit www.barbershoptx.com.

Performers Andy and Brenda Coin are back in the Rio Grande Valley

20161229 COINSAndy and Brenda Coin, known as the Coin Collection, have returned to the Rio Grande Valley and are hard at work. For the past five years the couple has appeared on Tuesdays and Wednesday at Paradise Roadhouse Bar & Grill, 3700 E. Expressway 83 in Weslaco from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. On Fridays they can be found at El Vaquero’s Hangout, 5704 FM 84 in Mission, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Starting on Jan. 8 the Coin Collection can be seen at Louie’s Backyard on Sundays 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Winter Texans who love magic will want to see Roger Wayne

20161229 Roger Wayne Illusionist KOIllusionist Roger Wayne has returned to the Rio Grande Valley and is preparing for his 2017 performances.

Wayne has over 30 years of traveling and entertaining audiences of all ages. His past show was called Roger and Lee Anne’s Grand Illusion Magic Show. It was the largest traveling illusion show with over 10,000 pieces of equipment, with shows in Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio.

Lindley Creek and Link Union come together

20161222 Christmas PIc“We are happy to be back in the Rio Grande Valley and performing for our friends,” said Kathie Greer of Lindley Creek. “Both our Christmas show and our regular show are new this year. The family is writing new music to perform and we are working on a new CD in Nashville that will come out after the first of the year,” said Kathie. “We are especially looking forward to our show, “Faith, Family, Freedom” that will also feature Link Union. It will take place at Park Place in Harlingen, Jan. 16 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. We hope our fans will come out for that special event.”

Roger Kenaston Band is back for another season of fiddlin’, pickin’, dancin’ and fun!

20161222 kenaston 2013 14Known throughout the Midwest and their native Nebraska, Roger Kenaston and his wife, Sharon, have been busy playing and entertaining people for many years. For the past eight years they have been coming to the Rio Grande Valley to entertain their fans and to earn new fans. On Wednesdays they can be found at Riverside Club in Mission and this year they can be found at El Vaquero in Mission on Tuesdays. They also entertain and play for dances in many RV parks.
