The 2020 Snowbird Extravaganza will be held at the Pharr Events center, Tuesday, February 4 and Wednesday, February 5, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This year’s event will feature Next Generation Leahy, Sean Emery, John Wing, Jimmy Flynn, Valdy and April Wine’s Myles Goodwyn.

Next Generation Leahy is a group of very talented siblings whose live performances have been described as astounding and breath-taking. They have performed across North America and have shared the stage with the likes of The Chieftains, We Banjo 3, The Tenors and Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy.

The siblings are all accomplished multi-instrumentalists whose live performances are filled with the high-energy, infectious music associated with the Leahy name. However, not content to play only the music of their Celtic heritage, these musicians explore many genres of music and pull influences from far and wide. Fiddle, cello, French accordion, singing, piano and French-Canadian step-dancing serve to bring their unique style of music to life.

Sean Emery is a ‘funny guy who juggles stuff,’ but more than that, he is a professionally trained juggler and clown. Emery does 250 shows a year during his 20 years of performing. He tailors each show to the audience. Born in Ireland, he’s the world’s tallest leprechaun. He grew up under the Big Top of Ringling Bros., Barnum and Bailey and he honed his skills in the streets and on the stage of New York City. His performances have taken him around the world to theaters, cabarets, Radio City Music Hall and even The White House. His comedic interpretations embellish his consummate skills with manipulation of props of all variety.

John Wing started doing standup comedy in Toronto in 1980. He went out on the road in 1982. He has performed at the Montreal Comedy Festival several years, he has done the Just For Laughs National Comedy tour twice, and performed at every Winnipeg Comedy Festival since it started in 2000. He has done several other comedy tours along the way, doing The Tonight Show for the first time in 1990. He did several other shows after his move to Los Angeles in 1988. He has done improv and even worked on cruise ships. In 1998 he published his first book. Since then he has published eight other books including a memoir about his first ten years as a comedian.

Another comedian to join the lineup is Jimmy Flynn. Jimmy Flynn has been performing for over 25 years. With a high-energy blend of side-splitting comedy and popular music, Jimmy Flynn remains Canada’s ambassador of good cheer. He was a popular radio and television personality during the early 90’s and has produced and broadcasted over 300 radio shows, a 13-week television series, three feature length videos, CD’s, and a Christmas recording for children and four best selling joke books. He has toured with Johnny Cash, Tommy James and the Shondells, Charlie Pride, The Everly Brothers and performed with Cheech and Chong. He dresses in his trademark red checkered shirt, yellow sou’wester and rubber boots to liven up the stage with comedy that gets the audience to laugh.

Valdy, a Canadian folksinger, has toured Canada for 46 years and plays regularly in New Zealand. He has toured Austria, Denmark, Germany, Holland, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland. He has 16 albums, 22 singles, four gold records, two Juno awards, and more under his belt.

Myles Goodwyn is a singer, guitarist, writer producer and leader of the band. His passion and drive shaped and directed the group from its earliest beginnings. He is the only original member of the group since its inception, of April Wine, in 1969. His music ranges from hard rock classics to soulful ballads, his vocal range and style can really grab a hold of you. His songwriting skills are prolific. Now in its fourth decade, April Wine continues to charge ahead as Canada’s very best rock bands. Myles Goodwyn is considered a living legend in Canadian rock history and is known as one of the all-time greats.

The entertainers scheduled are sure to please everyone in attendance.
