On the morning of Sunday, January 22, residents of La Floresta Park in Mercedes took to the golf course. It was the start of the Annual Couples Handicapped Tournament. The event was open to beginner golfers as well as those with advanced skills. It was a little cool that morning, but it warmed up nicely.
La Floresta is home to a small, 9-hole, par 3 golf course. Due to the weather and terrain, it is more difficult than it looks. No hole-in-one that day but players had some amazing shots. So we are all winners, because we always have some good shots and some bad shots. That’s what keeps us coming back!
We congratulate the winners of the Couples Tournament. Jim Monier and Darla Strait (Sanborn, IA) took first Place for Gross Score. They received a trophy and get to organize the tournament next year. First Place for Net Score was Ricky and Paula Henderson (Blairsville, GA).
