Auction and Ropa Style Show raises over $10k

Alamo Palms RV Resort’s Scholarship Committee has raised over $10,000 so far this year in its two major fundraising events – an auction and a Ropa Style Show.
Through generous resident donations, these two events over the past decade have provided over $100,000 in scholarships for Alamo’s high school (PSJA Memorial) seniors.
Residents say that while they have been entertained, they also enjoyed giving their time, talent, and money to make these unique events a success for such a worthy cause.

Another great event happened at our beautiful La Floresta RV Park near Mercedes. We had our championship par-3 golf tournament for both men and women. The winner of the men's was Ken Webb and the winner of the women’s was Darla Strait. In celebration of this, we had free pizza and drinks provided by the golf committee. The bonus of this Awards party was CanAm put on an amazing dance for us. (Submitted by Darla Strait)

Country Palms RV Park recently celebrated their good friends, Tom and Sandy Shouse. Tom has served as an outstanding minister at their church for approximately 20 years. The park thanked both of them for their service. “We wish you happiness in the next chapter of your retirement and safe travel. God bless you both.” Submitted by Ellen Coultas
Ready to be transported to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry? Ready for our most family-friendly and enchanting show of the season? Ready for two chances to see it? That’s right, the Valley Symphony Orchestra will be doing Potter and Piano in both McAllen and Brownsville.
The Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show & Rodeo is the Valley’s largest single event bringing in over 400,000 visitors to the Mercedes community annually. From 1939 to 2024, 85 years of historical amazing history has been made right here in the Rio Grande Valley. The event hosts over 7,000 exhibitor entries by 4H and FFA members from across the Rio Grande Valley and from across the state.
