Larry and Susan DeBuse, formerly of Green Gate Grove in Palm View, were honored at the Larry DeBuse Invitational Golf Tournament, held at Shary Golf Course on March 2.
Kathy Roberts and her team organized the event to raise funds for the Parkinson’s Foundation, Inc. and continues Larry’s annual golf outing, The Annual Not Ready for the PGA Golf Fun Day Invitational, which he ran for the last 6 seasons.

The second concert of the Music in the Park 2022 series will feature traditional songs from the all-female mariachi group from Brownsville, the Mariachi Margaritas, on Thursday March 10th from 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m.

Red Hat ladies from all over the Rio Grande Valley gathered for the first time in two years at Alamo Country Club on February 25 to view the elegant tables set by chapters from all over the Valley and to meet and greet old friends. A total of 25 tables with different themes were set for the ladies to enjoy. For an hour before lunch was served ladies browsed the tables to see which ones were their favorites.
WOW! It has been crazy the last two weeks. I have enjoyed the busy-ness – getting out there and doing – but it also means that I sometimes fall behind in other things.
I didn’t get to write a Ramblings last week because we had so much news to get to you. So, I hope I can cover a few things this time that I wish I had the opportunity to share last week.
It was a beautiful day last week when several Veteran residents at Alamo Rose were honored with patriotic themed quilts made by the park’s quilters.
Two years ago, the summer quilters wanted to do something special for the park’s own resident Veterans. Last year they recognized a number of World War II Veterans. This year they recognized 28 Veterans in the park.

It was a beautiful day for the 26th Annual American Cancer Society Golf Tournament held at La Floresta RV Park in Mercedes. There was a total of 57 golfers, from beginners to those with advanced skills, who participated in the tournament.

The Senior Texan Softball League is hosting the 22nd Annual Canada versus USA Senior Softball Games on the fields at McAllen Westside Park, 1000 Ware Road (on the west side of Ware Road, ¼ mile North of Expressway 83).

The Rio Grande Valley Gid-R-Done Bluegrass Band will be having their last performance of the season at Roadrunner RV Park next week. Their show will be held on Wednesday, March 9, from 4 to 6 p.m.
