With Halloween season, spooky skeletons are seen everywhere except at Quinta Mazatlán. The opening of the Sticks and Bones Trail shows the not-so-spooky side of skeletons. Visit this outdoor educational exhibit through the woods, open through November 14. Visitors will learn through signage, fun outdoor exhibits, and a scavenger hunt sheet. Remember your small gift bag upon completing the hunt and remember to dress for the season and laugh outdoors.

Palm Valley Animal Society is over cat capacity and is in need of community support. Currently, there are 701 cats in our care that need to find new homes.
We encourage potential adopters to stop by our Trenton or Andrews Center, open seven days a week between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. to find their new fur friend. All adoption fees for cats are currently being waived until further notice. A $25 deposit for spay/neuter procedures may apply, but all adoptable cats are up to date on vaccines and can be microchipped to their new caretakers.
Can't adopt? Register your home at pvastx.org/foster and help care for our kittens as a short or long term foster parent. For info and pictures of all our adoptable cutie-cats, visit pvastx.org/cats.

The International Museum of Art & Science (IMAS) invites the community to celebrate Día de los Muertos by visiting the altars exhibit honoring individuals of color who led the way in art and science fields. Community members are also invited to submit photos of their own altars to be featured in a virtual exhibit.
The community altar exhibit includes seven colorful ofrendas on display at the IMAS through November 14. Six partnering organizations were invited to create an altar to honor the life and career of important creators and experts.
UTRGV Center for Latin American Arts created an altar for iconic fashion designer Oscar de la Renta with hand-painted skulls by UTRGV MFA alumna Angelica Rodriguez. The Boys & Girls Club of McAllen honored prolific artist Frida Kahlo with a vibrant display. Mission Historical Museum’s altar is a tribute to the famous Mexican illustrator José Guadalupe Posada.
