Rusty Rierson 2You have just six more days to cast your vote for your favorite entertainers as your votes determine the winners of the Valley Star Awards. The deadline to turn in your ballot is Tuesday, Feb. 12.

Each year we ask Winter Texans to help us choose the top entertainers who perform in the Winter Texan resorts in the Rio Grande Valley.

Now is your chance to decide who will receive the top awards at the annual Valley Star Awards Show, hosted by the Winter Texan Times and Robert and Billie Ferguson.

We will tally your votes and announce the winners at this year’s Valley Star Awards Show. The show will be held Feb. 20, from 1-4 p.m. at Mission Bell Resort.

A ballot listing the nominees for Entertainer or Group of the Year overall, Male Vocalist of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year and eight other awards appears in today’s edition of the Winter Texan Times.

When you fill out a ballot we ask you to vote for someone in every category, if you are familiar with the nominees. Also, be sure to write in your choice for Entertainer or Group of the Year. This can be any of the individuals or groups on the ballot, from any category. This award is open to groups as well as individual entertainers.

“We are delighted to bring you the Valley Star Awards,” said Jim Brunson, publisher of the Winter Texan Times. "The Rio Grande Valley is blessed to have some of the country’s most talented artists performing right here in South Texas for our Winter Texan friends. This is a great way to recognize that talent. Every name of this year’s ballot is that of a top notch performer or band, and they deserve our support,” Brunson added.

The nominees for this year’s ballot were selected by a vote of the park activity directors. Entertainers who are not coming to the Valley this year are not eligible. Only the top four nominees appear on the ballot.

To vote for your favorite Valley entertainers, fill out the ballot in today’s paper and mail it to 1217 N. Conway, Mission TX 78572, or, vote online at www.wintertexantimes.com. Only one vote per person is allowed. No photocopies of the ballot are permitted. Voters must either vote online (preferred method) or fill out the ballot printed in the Winter Texan Times newspaper. Ballots must be received by Feb. 12, 2019 to be counted.

The Valley Star Awards Show will be held, Wednesday, Feb. 20 at 1 p.m. at Mission Bell Resort, located at 1711 E. Bus. 83, Mission.
Every year the Valley Star Awards Show offers a great lineup of entertainment that includes some of the best entertainers (we call them Wintertainers™) performing in the Winter Texan parks and resorts. This year is certainly no exception as we are bringing you some of your favorite performers, including Rusty Rierson, Helen Russell & Company, Tavie Spivey & Shake Rattle & Roll, Kai, Gene Turner (aka Mr. Pickpocket) and the Williamson Branch.

All six performers are finalists for this year’s Valley Star Awards selections.
