Tiger Ratsnake WEBBy Quinta Mazatlán

Just say the word snake and many people are fascinated and fearful at the same time. Snakes however play an important role in the balance of nature. Join us at Quinta Mazatlán on Thursday evening, June 25th, for a presentation on wild snakes by Gladys Porter Zoo.

Educator Jaime Zepeda will present several live species of South Texas snakes like the Great Plain rat snake. Guests will be able to view and experience these animals, while learning what makes them so unique and important to our region. Chairs will be spread out for social distancing outdoors.

The presentation will be repeated twice, 6:30 pm and 7:15 pm. Families are encouraged to come early and enjoy the trails, as the sanctuary will be open from 6 pm to 8 pm. The Thursday Nature Nights are generously sponsored by Freels Orthodontics for families through August 13th—with a grand finale of a Live Raptor Show by Sky Kings Falconry. The program is included in the Quinta Mazatlán park admission; $3 Adults, $2 Children and Free for 2 & Under. Follow Quinta Mazatlán on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Youtube @QuintaMazatlan to learn more about our family summer programs. For more information please call Quinta Mazatlán at 956-681-3370.

PHOTO CAPTION: The Tiger Ratsnake is one of the largest snakes in the Americas. It has been referred to as the Thunder & Lightning Snake as it is so large and fast. Gladys Porter Zoo will be presenting at Quinta Mazatlán on Thursday evening, June 25th, with a show at 6:30 pm and 7:15 pm. Walk the Thornforest trails before or after your educational program.
