The Lipan Apache Tribe of Texas will welcome the public to celebrate Native culture, tradition, and community at the 56th Annual Ndé Dáá Homecoming Powwow on Saturday, March 7, at the Alton Recreation Center, 349 Dawes Ave. Doors open at 10 a.m. and festivities continue through 9:30 p.m.
The longstanding cultural gathering will feature a full day of American Indian drumming, singing, and dancing, along with vendors offering traditional foods, handmade crafts, art, and cultural wares. Attendees can also enjoy raffles, cake walks, and familyfriendly activities throughout the day.
The Gourd Dancing will be held at 11 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. A Grand Entry will be done at 1 and 7 p.m. An intermission will be held at 4:30 p.m. At the grand opening ceremonies, dancers will follow the guard into the arena dressed in beautiful regalia. Closing ceremonies will begin at 9 p.m.
There will be a special musical performance by Sayani at 12:15 and 6:30 p.m.
To encourage participation, the first 50 dancers who register for either Grand Entry session will be eligible for $20 Day Money per session, provided they appear in full regalia and dance the entire session.
“This powwow is more than a celebration—it’s a homecoming,” organizers shared. “Together we can build a stronger Tribal community.”
