After playing a Christmas Concert on December 8th at Our Savior Lutheran Church the Rio Grande Valley Concert Band is tuning up for its 22nd season of concert performances.
Since 1998 both Valley residents and Winter Texans have joined forces to create this seasonal band which only performs December thru March.
The purpose of the RGV Band is to provide an outlet for music expression to both local residents and Winter Texans by performing for the general public “concert in the park” type music, using the 55+ parks as the concert hosts.
Band members start arriving in the Valley by early November, and during the Winter Texan Season perform bi-weekly concerts. The band members, approximately 62 in number, gather each Saturday at 9:00 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 107 Fern in McAllen to practice.
The band is in need of additional members in the clarinet, tuba and percussion sections. If you are interested in joining the band, please contact Mr. Gene Goede at (956) 682-9225.
